For 17 years I was President & CEO of The Myers-Briggs Company, after nearly 20 years rising through its ranks. Today I bring more than three decades of executive experience to founder-CEOs of socially responsible companies, helping them sharpen strategy, build the team to execute it, and grow the business without losing the life they've put on hold.
The hardest part of the CEO job isn't the strategy. It's carrying the weight of it. I learned that during my 36 years at one company, the last 17 as President & CEO.
As a CEO, you make decisions that affect hundreds of lives, millions in revenue, and your company's future, often with incomplete information and immense pressure. I know that experience because I lived it.
I spent those 36 years at The Myers-Briggs Company. I led the company through global transformation, navigated M&A, and built leadership teams that delivered results across markets and continents. For nearly all of my years as CEO, I was also a member of a peer-advisory group of other CEOs, which is to say I know firsthand what it's like to need other CEOs in the room, and what good coaching and peer challenge can do for a leader carrying real weight.
HayesPoint Strategies is where I bring that experience to other CEOs. I work with founder-CEOs of socially responsible companies who want to scale without compromising the mission. The work focuses on what only the CEO can resolve: a strategy that needs to get sharper as the company grows, a leadership team that has to evolve faster than feels comfortable, and the personal weight of holding it all together.
I also serve as Past President of the Board of ISA, The Association of Learning Providers, which keeps me connected to the leading edge of leadership development.
More than 30 years of executive leadership, including 17 as CEO of a global company. I understand your pressures because I've lived them.
A career that began in behavioral science at McBer & Company and matured leading the world's most widely used personality assessment company. Certified in MBTI®, Strong Interest Inventory®, FIRO-B®, CPI™, and TKI®.
From global expansion to successful mergers, I've led companies through the kinds of inflections my clients are facing now.
The most effective leaders are those who are challenged, supported, and inspired to become the best version of themselves. My passion is enabling business leaders to achieve extraordinary results, for their organizations and their lives.
Three focused offerings designed to help CEOs lead at their next level.
Confidential one-on-one work with the CEO, focused on the decisions, dynamics, and weight only the CEO can carry. Drawing on 17 years in the chair, I bring peer-level perspective to the questions you can't fully discuss with your team, your board, or anyone else in your life.
Helping leaders translate vision into a strategy the organization can actually execute. Together we sharpen the choices, align the team behind them, and build the operating discipline to deliver.
The CEO is only as effective as the team around them. I work with leadership teams to build the trust, clarity, and accountability that turn talented individuals into a high-functioning whole.
Engagements look different depending on what each leader needs, but a few things stay constant.
The work is confidential and grounded in trust. The whole point is for you to have one place where you can say what you actually think, ask what you don't want to ask anyone else, and work through what's really weighing on you. Anything we discuss stays between us.
The work is collaborative, not prescriptive. I don't show up with a methodology to apply or a framework to fit you into. I bring a CEO's perspective, ask hard questions, push where pushing helps, and listen for what isn't being said. You stay in the chair. The decisions are yours.
The work is focused on what only the CEO can do. Strategy that needs to get sharper. Leadership team dynamics that need to evolve. Decisions that have been deferred. Conversations that have been avoided. The personal weight of holding all of it.
The work is paced to your reality. Some engagements are weekly. Some are monthly. Some are intensive over a defined period; others are ongoing peer-level support over a year or more. We'll figure out together what will be most effective for you.
I'm most useful to:
I'm probably not the right fit for leaders looking for a tactical consultant, a quick fix, or someone to tell them what to do. The work I do is for leaders who want a peer in the room and are willing to do real thinking with someone who has been in their seat.
